One Year Later…The Electro Wars Release Info
First off, I would like to say Happy Holidays! It’s been a fascinating year for all of the Electro Wars crew. We have met so many fascinating individuals and have formed new alliances with many who support and propel our movement. We have not only grown as filmmakers, but more importantly, as people. With each interview we continue to learn more about the Electronic Dance Music movement through singular perspectives and achievements. Unfortunately, throughout the year we have also come across many who oppose the film and the message it is trying to convey. A few artists have asked to be removed from the film, thus paralyzing our efforts to release the DVD.
As many of you may imagine it is not easy to clear a lot of the content featured in documentaries. In the past, many documentarians have released films on a whim, hoping for the best regarding legal prosecution. We want to do things right and we want the film to reach the masses, the way it was intended.
After traveling the world to many great places I have realized that the film has become a period piece and it is speaking to a cultural movement, particularly the internet generation who is still trying to find its voice. The web is still in a state of flux, the government is figuring out how to regulate it and the users who perpetuate content are trying to retain its integrity, a similar concept to that of the state of music.
The Electro Wars transcends EDM, it is more than that. The film speaks to the bloggers of the world, the music aficionados, the record labels, and anyone who has expressed a growing interest in dance music in the last year, particularly in America. The notion has always been to spur conversation and ruffle a few feathers. My intentions were clear since the inception of the project, and my convictions remain the same.
Through the battle we have been scathed, bruised, battered, but not defeated. Which gives me great pleasure to announce that the film has finally found a home and will finally be released in 2011, through a very reputable record label. More details will follow after the new year. Thank you all for sticking by us and enlisting.
The Electro Wars are not over…
They’ve only just begun
